I have been using Open Live Writer, since it was Windows Live Writer. I like it, and it feels pretty easy to write what I want. I am about to setup my 9 year old to do some writing on a blog (not this one). Here is a short tutorial for using Word.
From the file menu, choose New, then search for Blog post. There is a template:
Click on the Blog post template, then ‘Create’. You will be prompted to Register a Blog Account:
Click ‘Register Now’, and it will ask you what flavor of Blog you have. In this case, we use WordPress:
Enter your user name and password, and check the box to remember it, if you are so inclined.
Click on the picture options, and make sure you are happy with the answer. In my case, the blog provider is the right answer.
Click ‘Ok’ twice and you should see the success message.
Write your post and click the ‘Publish’ (or you could click the dropdown and get the ‘Publish as draft’) button:
You also have the option to add categories. It appears that those are generated from a query to your blog. So you can select existing ones or create new ones:
